Okay, not great

I bought this about 4 months ago and I had high hopes. I have oily, rosacea prone skin and I found it pilled and left a white caste. It had a kind of silicone feel on the skin too and I think it caused some small breakouts on my chin. But it was quite mattifying. Overall, I was quite disappointed. The search for a good spf continues

Fiasco

Unfortunately, this product completely clogged my pores after two weeks of use, two times a day. During this time my other skincare routine as well as my diet was unchanged. Nice matte texture

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great product as the texture is matte and is very easy to be absorbed by the skin. It doesn’t leave the skin oily or sticky. And it doesn’t give a ‘fake white’ colour after applying. It’s long lasting as well, ie, skin doesn’t get oily after applying it for a few hours. Sun cream is a must have essential every day, and this is one of the best products I’ve ever used.

Very good sunscreen

Feel's Great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As my skin is quite oily I've tried lots of different facial sunscreens to try and find something that doesn't make my skin greasy and shiny. There are a few good options out there but this is probably the best I've tried. It feels rich, but goes on very smoothly and sinks in instantly. Make-up applies really well over it with no balling or pilling which I have found to be a problem with other similar products.

Really nice! Gentle, effective, does dry skin

Smooth, mat finish that keeps my skin happy

I am using quite a few active ingredients in my skin care so it is important to have spf that does not irritate. And this one delivers. Great Product

I tried it once without a light moisturiser underneath and there was white that collected in the pores/crevices but with a light moisturiser it blends right in, with no white residue. I struggle to not tan and found this worked well with one application daily.

Great protection, a bit thick in texture

The oil defence SPF version is new to me. It’s a bit thicker in texture so takes a bit more work to rub in. But other than that it’s great! I love that it is 50 SPF and it seems to do the job

Nicer texture for summer months

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Advanced Brightening UV Defense SPF 50 has been my face SPF staple for the past couple of years. I have combination skin and so when I saw the release of Mineral Matte UV Defense SPF 30, I was keen to try it as I get oily throughout the day and prefer a matte look. The texture is thicker. I am a dark skinned black woman and it took about a minute of massaging on my face for the slight cast to disappear. Do not fear, it does fade away! I like this product, but maybe I will save it for summer months and stick to my trusty Advanced Brightening UV Defense SPF 50

Great holiday facial sunscreen

Amazing Sunscreen!!

Because of the formulation and texture, I love this sunscreen. It absorbs quickly into the skin and has a light matte finish with a moisturising effect, making it suitable for use with or without make-up. I have a dark skin tone (Black African) and am delighted that this sunscreen, although being a chemical and mineral SPF, does not leave a white cast on my skin (despite the fact that I massaged it in for approximately 2-3 minutes). Furthermore, I am a skincare enthusiast who uses retinol, liquid exfoliators, and glycolic/mandalic acid night serums, so my skin can be very sensitive. As a result, I am pleased that this sunscreen provides me with a high level of SPF protection throughout the day.

Easy application with great matte finish

I've been using a Factor 50 sunscreen on my face for about the last year as I know this is really the best thing I can do to deter the anti-ageing process and at the age of 42, I really needed to step up a gear! My other sunscreen was similarly priced so I was keen to see how this product differed; I was really very impressed. I like a matte finish with all my skincare as I am prone to a little oiliness plus my skin can be sensitive to oily products. The product feels quite thick coming out of the tube so I was worried it would feel heavy on my skin and be difficult to absorb. However, the product actually absorbs very easily, felt very light and was also a great base for my make-up. The consistency of the product made me feel really well protected and the matte finish lasted all day. Unfortunately we have not experienced much in the way of "hot" weather since I started using this product but I feel confident in its ability to protect my skin whilst keeping it non-shiny all day.

Lovely Sunscreen

I usually use a different SPF, and when I opened this I thought it would definitely give me spots as it feels thicker than my usual lotion, and when I first dab it on it does have that slightly white, tacky kind of look and feel that you associate with sunscreens. My skin is very sensitive, oily and prone to breakouts at the least provocation so I wasn’t expecting much success. However...... and this is the bit that impressed me :) ...... it absorbs really smoothly without any trace of residue, it leaves a lovely matt finish that makeup goes over with ease, and it kept my usual super shiny face away all day. I didn’t have to reapply powder to cover the shine at all, which is unheard of for me as I usually have to powder several times as the day goes on. I’ve been using for a few weeks now and I honestly think I’ll switch to this from the Advanced Brightening as my skin has stayed spot-free and shine-free on Oil Shield. My only question is how well it will help with my hyperpigmentation - perhaps a SkinCeuticals advisor can help with this? All in all a really great product - thank you SkinCeuticals!

Loved it after the first use!

Great for oily skin

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use retinol and aha/bha's to control my oily skin, so sometimes it can be a bit dry and/or sensitive. I look for products that aren't going to clog my pores or exacerbate my oiliness, but also won't be too drying or irritating. This product ticks all the boxes, it's lightweight and mattifies my skin but doesn't dry my skin out. It is a good base for make up and doesn't have an overly white cast, but then I am pretty pale so I'm not sure how it would be for darker skin tones. I would use again, but I would probably save this for summer and use a more moisturising sunscreen on winter when my skin is a bit drier.

Great for very oily skin

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I usually use Skinceuticals ‘Ultra Facial UV Defense SPF50’ however in the warmer months my combination skin struggles with oiliness. This product is superb at giving a matte, dry finish to the skin. I will say I found it slightly harder to rub on than the Ultra Defense, and my make-up needed a primer on top or else it went a bit cakey. I will be saving this to use for hot, no make-up days. If your skin is very oily then this is the SPF for you! Dropped one star for the fact that it doesn’t sit so well on my face before make-up.

Great texture.

It is factor 50 so feel like it gives the highest protection from the sun. I havent found a huge difference in my skin as a result of using this but I have found that my makeup sits better on top of it. The only downside was that I did find that I needed to use more product than usual for full coverage

Fantastic texture!

But I love the texture of this sun screen, not oily at all, goes into the skin immediately and I can continue applying makeup without any issues. Matte SPF

I have long busy work days and very oily skin, so I find that after a few hours I tend to get very shiny. Since using this SPF as a primer, I have found that it helps control the shine on my face and it holds foundation in place. Whilst it’s not a cure, I’ll certainly purchase again.

I suffer from Melasma , went to see a doctor whose advice was ALWAYS wear SP50 no matter the weather . Well I have for a long time been using the ultra facial defence . I thought this was fabulous but this ! Goes on smoothly , no chalky residue , smells pleasant , wears well under make up …I can’t fault it . Where oh where was this when I was in my teens and early twenties ..if I had worn this everyday , I wouldn’t have the brown marks on my face now . Lovely sunscreen that feels silly and substantial

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Like all Skinceuticals products my expectations were high with this sunscreen and it did not disappoint. Although my skin isn't very oily, I felt that, with my serum and a little moisturiser underneath, this sunscreen glided on easily and elegantly, and I felt like it was robust enough to stay put reliably throughout the day. It felt comfortable and not greasy. I also felt that it was the perfect texture to apply to the back of my hands. A really solid, reliable sunscreen for everyday use without the fear of it causing breakouts or clogging pores. With a busy job, it was good to know that i wouldn't be incredibly shiny throughout the day.

Great protection

Very Mattifying

I bought this a month ago. I have oily skin so thought this would be perfect for my skin type. The sunscreen was very mattifying, it took me some time to massage the product in to the skin. Without massaging it, it would have left a white cast on my face. It was very moisturising too, so I didn't feel the need to use a moisturiser before applying the sunscreen every time after I used this. I didn't like the feel of when I was rubbing it in, however knowing it was giving me the highest protection, I felt great going out in the sun!!

Perfect SPF for acneic skin

Amazing!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am happily surprised by this product! I haven’t used mineral sunscreens due to how heavy they tend to feel on the face. But this product is different! Though it has a slightly thick texture, this sunscreen spreads well, feels light on my sensitive skin and sinks in beautifully giving the skin a nice matte finish. I noticed that sometimes it crumbles a little if I rub it into my face, so I need to be gentle when applying my make-up, but not only do I feel protected from burning, I also can enjoy my skin shine-free all day long.

WOOOOOONDERFUL

Good for younger or oily skin

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This sunscreen is great if you look for matte finish. As I am in my 40 ties I do prefer more moisture and slip in my creams including SPF. The cream didn't give me any breakouts which is good and I didn't burn either. I will finish the tube but will be using oil based skin tint on top to add some glow.

I always trust Skinceuticals for suncare

For me just ok

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was lucky to receive this sunscreen complimentary for review. I have combination skin with an oily T-Zone, so I was excited to try this sunscreen. I gave up on mattifying sunscreen because most of them are hard to rub into the skin and often times don’t agree with my skincare, causing pilling. I didn’t have any issues with pilling but the sunscreen is difficult to rub into the skin. This sunscreen also contains Titanium dioxide ‚higher’ up the inkey list so if you have darker skin (I have medium dark skin) you need to make sure to rub it in properly to avoid a cast. Good news if you give the sunscreen some time to soak in the cast disappears (at least for me). I will be honest, I only use this sunscreen when I have time to let it sit for 30 min before applying makeup. Since I do love SkinCeuticals I bought the Advanced UV Defense Sunscreen and I LOVE love it ;).

Excellent Sunscreen.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been a huge fan of their Brightening UV Defence SPF30 for a few years now, but thought I’d try this product as during the warmer months (being peri-menopausal and suffering with hot flushes) my skin can get quite oily. The consistency of this product is much thicker and ‘drier’ than my usual SPF. Initially I was concerned that it might be difficult to blend, or even too drying for my skin. But my worries were unfounded, as it blended beautifully and left no white cast. It left my skin with a lovely matte finish, without any tightness or dryness. I’ve worn this SPF both with and without makeup. Throughout the day I had minimal breakthrough shine, if any. Makeup sits well and didn’t budge - works quite well as a primer for oil prone skin. I had no reactions or breakouts with this product and would highly recommend.

Loved the matte finish

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was after a product that comes with the highest SPF protection, but is also suitable for oily, blemish-prone skin, which mine is. I always aim, make-up or no make-up, to achieve a matte finish, and this does exactly that. I would normally use it after shower, using gentle face wash, toner and moisturiser, then apply a very thin layer of this product all over my face, leave on for 5-10mins, and then apply make-up. Works perfectly every time! Great product if you have fair skin tone, and combination-oily skin!

A bit heavy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have found that unlike the factor 30 and 50 in the range that this was particularly heavy and did mattify as stated, however it was too much coverage for me. Perfect if you are very fair skinned. I do use skinceuticals factor 30 every day through out the year and skinceuticals factor50 when exposed to the sun and both are great so will continue with those products

Great for very oily skin

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have more a normal skin, with a bit oily T zone, and for me i found this product a bit difficult to apply, and it leaves a bit of a white cast, also no matter how long i wait between layering my others skin care products, it always crumbles when I rub into my face, sometimes more, sometimes less... but it always does, no matter what I do, even if a change some of my products. It keeps my face shine free for a long time though.

Non whitening with great protection

Great for everyday

Great product for oily skin

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I do have a problem with an oily t-zone so I was super excited to try this new product. The cream is definitely a thicker texture than other Skin Ceuticals SPFs but applies surprisingly easily. It takes about 30 seconds to absorb totally, leaving a matte base for make-up which sits beautifully on top and lasts all day with no shine. My face is very susceptible to burning but I found this product to be very effective with no need for top up during the day. Excellent product and worth every penny!

Excellent sun cream

Fantastic!

I tried the oil shield UV defence sunscreen SPF 50 and it is just perfect, it works really well with my moisturiser as well in the occasions i need a bit more hydration, it is really mat, gets absorbed quickly and it does not run during sport activities. Really great product.

The holy grail of SPF protection for oily skin

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have very oily skin and as a result I often go without sun protection (terrible I know) as some days I can't bear the suncream and oily skin combination. This SPF has literally solved all my problems and not only does it protect my skin but it controls the oil so that I don't look like I have an oil slick on my face come mid-afternoon. The best part of it all is that it doesn't cause any breakouts. I hope that they never stop making this stuff as it is now my go-to suncare product.
