Vitamin C- GREAT! Sunscreen- Not so GREAT.

Firstly- the Vitamin C serum is worth the hype! 100%. I’ve seen an improvement in my skin discolouration in such a short time, I will definitely keep this in my skincare routine. Amazing. The only reason I’m giving this 3 stars is because the set I purchased, which included the SPF50 sunscreen, was a disappointment. After reading the description of the sunscreen I didn’t see any red flags so I purchased the set. Unfortunately that was such a waste for me personally due to having dark skin. The sunscreen isn’t suitable for dark skin, it leaves a white/slightly chalk film over your face. Disappointed is an understatement. Especially for the price. Would I buy the Vitamin C serum again- yes, 100%. Would I buy the sunscreen again? No. What would be super helpful is stipulating in the description that it is NOT suitable for all skin types due to the white film left on dark skin after application. I wish I knew this before purchasing.

Damaging to my skin

I really wanted to love this sunscreen. Majority of my skincare is now SkinCeuticals but this sunscreen causes a really bad reaction to my skin. My skin type would be considered "normal" and not sensitive at all but this sunscreen damages my skin after one use and takes almost 2 weeks for it to heal. :( I bought it 6 months ago and have tried it 3 (maybe 4) times and I can definitely confirm it's the sunscreen.

Lightweight and comfortable

As someone with mature, oily skin, finding a sunscreen that doesn't leave me feeling greasy or clog my pores has always been a challenge. After trying multiple products, I finally found a sunscreen that doesn’t dry my skin or leaves it too greasy. Ultra Facial defence not only protects my skin but also serves as a treatment for my specific skin concerns.

Incredible facial sunscreen

I’m currently in Barbados on holiday and using the Ultra Facial UV Defense. I very seldom write reviews, and never on holiday, but this sunscreen is phenomenal. I have very pale Scottish skin that burns easily. I have gained a little colour, not much, but I have no redness even when having been on the beach for several hours. It’s expensive but a little goes a very long way. I’ve started to use it on my husband too as he was burning with a different factor 50 facial sunscreen.

I rate this a 3 because its sooooo expensive for a tiny bottle and I wish its cheaper but I love this sunscreen it hydrates and makes my skin shinier and I have dry skin

Light - medium coverage

Very good for sensitive skin no breakouts, however found product did not relieve sun exposure, Felt like being burnt even after 10 -15 min sun exposure. Found others medical based 50+ sunscreen did better job ie aspect face

Absolutely adore this sunscreen! I have super sensitive skin and eyes and have struggled to find a sunscreen that doesn't break me out, burn my skin and eyes and sits beautifully throughout the day. However Ultra Facial Defense is the perfect one! I do have one qualm though. 30ml IS NOT ENOUGH.... Really need a bigger bottle. For the love of what's goog SkinCeuticals PLEASE MAKE A 75ml - 100ml bottle. i

Good sun screen

I was given this by a friend, who recommended it. I have to say I love it, its really protecting my skin when I put it on. It sinks into the skin easily and doesnt feel oily. Its a great sun screen with 50spf.

GREASY

After Skinceuticals Ultimate 30 was discontinued, I tried many other sunscreens and nothing has ever compared, I have no idea why Skinceuticals chose to discontinue the perfect sunscreen. I moved to Ultra Facial Defence, now I am all about dewy skin, however this is shiny to the point it is unwearable on its own. I use many Skinceutical products, which I love, but this is a huge no. Sorry Skinceuticals 😔

Love this sunscreen

My plastic surgeon recommended this sunscreen about 3 years ago, having been allergic to every other sunscreen I've tried. I'm very fair and have had BCC's surgically removed from my nose, so I'm incredibly pleased to have found it. Wish there was a skinceutical sunscreen for the body!

Really Bad

I’m really sorry but I can’t give this product even 2 starts. I currently use C E Ferulic and HA Intensifier, both of which I absolutely love. But this SPF really didn’t work for me. I bought 2 tubes of it and I’m incredibly disappointed in so many ways. On paper it was a perfect sunscreen with amazing reviews. First, it leaves you with a slight white cast and it’s much more visible on darker complexion of my husband, you can actually live with it if you mix this spf with a fluid bronzer, but for the price I pay I expect cosmetically elegant formula. Second, it is super shiny and greasy looking and you need powder each time you’re using it, it’s a bit sticky and peeling terribly under makeup (oil based face tint). And here comes the worst part: I’ve never used a sunscreen that would irritate my eyes so badly, it’s just painful, my eyes start getting red and I’m all in tears until I wash it off. My husband has a bit slighter reaction, but confirms it’s unusually itchy and therefore terrible for sport - it gets into eyes during runs trough sweat even when you deliberately avoid eye area. The best I could do is to make it a neck and chest sunscreen and then wash my hands twice, my husband just refused to use it. I had such high hopes for this and really wanted to love it. I am really cautious about trying any other Skinceuticals SPFs now.

The BEST face sunscreen I’ve found and used! It is perfect for under makeup - I have struggled to find the perfect sunscreen that doesn’t split/crease my makeup. This sunscreen applies perfectly under makeup and leaves you with a dewy finish (which personally I LOVE). It is also great to wear on its own - not greasy, doesn’t move into your eyes throughout the day causing stinging and I have been using it for 2 weeks straight with no breakouts!!

Skinceutical Ultra facial defense sunscreen

I have used this product for 8 years. Easily best sunscreen on the market. Its great for my ultra sensitive skin & also helps calm it down. Its expensive but worth it.

I prefer the old version of sunscreen

I used skin ceuticals sunscreen for years. This new sunscreen version still have the same special light texture of the previous sunscreen version and it is more hydrating but unfortunately it is transparent which maybe good for most people but for me the old texture with white teint was great on my skin color and i used it instead of the foundation. Hope you keep on manufacturing the old version along with the new version so i don't switch to another product. Thank you

Love this Sunscreen

No more sun spots

Skinceuticals was always my number 1 skin brand and again, this sun cream is so amazing, that even after 7 days abroad and high sun exposure I don’t have even one sun spot on my face. I’ve always got them with other quality brands and excepted the fact that they will always come while out on holiday , but I am nicely surprised it hasn’t happened this year. Also great under make up too.

Love this

This does make your face a bit white but my skin is very sensitive with rosacea and it does not break out with this so that is really great.. plus it sits really well under foundation so another big plus. I have used so many different sunscreens but this is hands down the best.

High protection, but too greasy

I had high hopes for this product based on previous reviews, but I was disappointed. I have very fair, but also very oily skin. I'm looking for a high SPF to wear daily, but this is far too greasy. After application, my face is slimy all day and my make-up doesn't blend in at all. I also found the size of the bottle tiny for the price. It's a no from me

Sticky, shiny, sunburned

I saw an article that said this would give me a good base and sun protection, so I splashed out. Wow, I wish I had saved my money. It was sticky and shiny, and I had a terrible sunburn after a country walk. Really wouldn't recommend.

I LOVE this product!

I've been working outdoors most of the summer (I work in events) and this moisturiser has bene my saving grace, I apply a couple of times during the day as it's been so hot this summer, and also to ensure I am always fully covered, I'm super protective of my face in the sun. It's got a really lovely texture and doesn't clog my pores. It also give my skin a lovely glow and works really well under make up. Recommended!

Feels just like a moisturiser!

I bought this a few months ago so have waited to leave a review. Absolutely love how thin this feels on the skin, not greasy at all and can use instead of a moisturiser during the day. It's easily the best every day facial SPF I've used. I've been using it in conjunction with Serum 10, which I also love, however, my one and only gripe is that this makes my combination skin quite shiny. I don't know if it's because I use it straight after the Serum 10 but I wish there was a matte version of the SPF 50, like Skinceuticals SPF 30 version.

I love this product, great base for makeup but very annoying it comes in such a tiny size. I would need either a 100ml or a 200ml product realistically as if you are applying the correct amount to get the right coverage/protection ( at least 2 ml) this product isn't going to last. Also think it is very expensive.

Moisturising and protective!

I struggle with dry skin in the winter, and not only does this give me the daily skin protection I need living in a big city, it also works as a great moisturiser. It has a nice consistency and no smell like usual SPF protection. The only warning I will give is it needs a few minutes to soak in before attempting to apply make-up. I would also maybe prefer a tinted version to double up as a tinted moisturiser and cut out one step!

Lovely Texture

This cream rubs in very easily without leaving any residue. Very light but moisturising. A good make up base. I am using the C E Ferulic serum and therefore need a good suncreeen and this is the one. Best SPF

High sun protection factor, perfect for use on my holiday, and I have even continued using it upon my return home, due its wonderful effect on my skin. It's light when applied to the skin and makes my skin feel moisturised but not greasy. I was a little concerned because it is white in colour, and I have an olive skin tone. However, it absorbed into the skin well, and left no white residue, just a nice dewy glow to my complexion. It made my skin look healthy. In summary, great product and I would highly recommend it. I finally found an SPF that I love.

Great SPF without the white cast!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A lot of SPF 50 sunscreens that I have used in the past for oily skin (both creams and lotions) have always left a white cast/ashy look and felt heavy on the skin. They’ve also been very difficult to apply, don’t rub in easily causing piling which is annoying to say the least. I was sceptical in trying this as I thought it might turn out to be the same as other SPF 50 sunscreens but I was totally wrong. It’s so light, feels weightless on the skin, absorbs easily into the skin and leaves no white cast or gives that ashy look which makes you look like you’re ill. It doesn’t feel greasy or leave my skin looking shiny plus is matt enough without my skin feeling tight. Also it’s moisturising at the same time which is especially great for winter. It leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth, doesn’t clog pores but at the same time minimises them. I love the fact that it also prevents collagen breakdown. All in all this is a great product but it’s a shame that it doesn’t come in a bigger tube.

Great and light Sun Protection for every day

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been recommended to use a UVA/UVB sun screen with a 50 SPF every day even in the winter months by my beautician. I have therefore gone for the one of the best in the market brands - SkinCeuticals for that. I can now rest assured that my skin at 30 is protected from any photo or sun damage early, so any signs of aging are reduced. I am extremely happy with this light yet moisturizing day cream that I've been using for the last couple of weeks, with a combination of Vit C serum which enhances sun protection even further. A great combination if you want a younger looking skin longer!

Educate, educate, educate

I pair this every day with my Vitamin C serum (C E Ferulic) because i understand that it is adding a extra protective layer to my skin whilst allowing the Vitamin C to fight free radicals that will harm my skin beneath. I was SO surprised at how light weight this product is, it doesn't feel oily on my skin at all like a normal SPF and leaves me with the perfect amount of hydration to apply my foundation.

My new favourite SPF!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m so happy I’ve finally found an SPF I love!! I’m a girl who is prone to cystic acne with oily combo skin. I try my hardest to look after my skin & one product that I find is a constant let down for daily skincare is SPF- but not anymore! This SPF is a cream but it is so light and when you apply it it blends away into nothing! I’m so impressed! It doesn’t cause me to go oily or greasy and I DON’T feel like I’m wearing a thick, horrible mask. It feels more like a veil, like a primer. In fact I’ve dropped my makeup primer & i’m Just using this! I’m surprised it’s SPF 50 as the consistency is very light. I live in the UK & it’s winter here now so I’ve not worn it layered as you would during the sunnier months so I can’t comment on that but i’m So happy to add this to my daily skincare routine. I’ve been looking for a SPF for daily wear for so long and I finally found that I’ve got one i like. I make sure to double cleanse to remove all SPF and I’ve had no issues with breakouts. I was very kindly sent this product to review by Skinceuticals but will only ever give my honest review, especially when I suffer with Skin problems myself. If you’re looking for a daily SPF, I’d recommend this one!

I have tried to find an SPF that doesn’t make you break out or add a horrid silvery sheen to my face but I hadn’t had such luck until I tried this. It’s super light weight, acts as a great primer, doesn’t clog pores or make me break out. It is quite Matt too. I’m really pleased with this and will continue to use this going forward. Great sunscreen to protect your skin!

It absorbs very quick and do not leave your skin white like other sunscreens usually do. That's why I am addicted to this as it saves me a lot of time in the morning and I won't change to my old sunscreen. With CE Ferulic and this sunscreen I can ensure my skin is perfectly protected. Lovely shine!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used used sun protection even in the winter. This product goes on very easily and I love the shine it leaves on the face. I think that a bigger tube would be ideal as I use sunscreen every day. I feel this gives more protection than other products I have used in the past as you can see the product on the skin (if no makeup is applied). Well worth the money but I would like a larger tube as I use mine on back of hands, neck etc.

Exactly what I was looking for in SPF!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have searched far and wide for an SPF that ticks all the boxes for me. High protection is a top priority but this product also doesn't make my eyes sting when so many others have! I also like that I can put my makeup over the top almost instantly! I'm all about good skin care but I'm always in a rush and need something which absorbs quickly without leaving any stickiness! Using daily and will continue to do so!

Nice texture

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using this for 2 weeks to protect my skin after using retinol products. It has a nice texture and is not oily on my skin. It easy to apply makeup afterwards. As it is winter I cannot say how effective it is in strong sun but it is protecting my skin nicely.

Even after only two days I started noticing some difference. It made my skin so soft and I really felt that it gave me radiance. Sun protection which is not sticky and stays longer

I have been using this product off an on for a year or so and I love as its not sticky and I don't look like I have put a layer of white cream on my face. I love that it absorbs quickly in the skin and is not greasy. Its my part of my daily routine and I love how safe my skin look from the sun.

best 50+ sun defence for face

Fantastic face moisturiser for going in the sun. No stinging or residue after applying. Have tried many but this is the best.

Leaves a white cast

Unfortunately this product leaves a white cast which makes it very difficult to wear either with or without makeup.
