Fantastic moisturiser. Best one I've ever used. Been using for years and now got my teenage children on to it. Love it!

The best moisturiser I’ve ever used.

I have blemish prone skin, and a lot of acne scars. This moisturiser has reduced the appearance of my blemishes, and also leaves my skin feeling moisturised for hours without feeling oily or thick. It makes my skin look so shiny!

Made my skin skin red and burning

I got this product a few days ago and I was exited to try it because I have acne prone skin. I used this product and it had a sticky and soapy texture. On the first day I used this product my skin was slightly red and I thought nothing of it but then I used it again the next day and my skin started to feel like it was burning and I turned bright red. I had looked like I had a really bad sunburn. I still look like a tomato a couple of days after using it and my skin is still burning. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Extremely disappointed.

Peeling the skin

The product peels off all day and in cased my skin to be flaky which really uncomfortable especially if you wear makeup. I thought this issue was only with me but I was surprised with comments and feedback.

Saved my skin!

This is the only moisturiser I use. I have struggled with constant bumpy skin texture and breakouts. I also have oily/combination skin, which makes it difficult to find a moisturiser that targets breakouts but also doesn’t dry out my skin. This is a life saver. I have had compliments and requests about what I use since using this product. I

Dries out skin

Please do not use this moisturiser for acne prone skin ! I used this twice on the bottom half of my face thank god i did not put it all over my face and it has cause extreme drying and flaking on my skin to a really painful uncomfortable point where it is flaking and looks like eczma.

Absolute disgrace to LRP

This product is marketed as a solution for people dealing with the side effects of acne treatments, but it includes myristyl myristate, an insanely comedogenic ingredient - 5 out of 5 on the comedogenicity scale. How is it ethical to offer relief from treatments while also contributing to the very problem - clogged pores - that leads people to these treatments in the first place? This feels like a betrayal from LRP that claims to support acne-prone skin. It undermines trust and the hard work I have put into treating my skin. Avoid this product if you value your progress. It damaged my skin in just 8 days of use, and it will take weeks to undo.

Smoother healthier clearer skin

So disappointed

I really really hoped that all the past negative reviews for this cream were incorrect but they are unfortunately not. I had been using the old formula for years and finally my supply ended and l had to give the new formula a go. For the first month of use all seemed ok but the past few weeks my skin has become irritated, my cheeks feel like sandpaper and spots are forming. I am so disappointed as it had take a lot of years and medication to get to a point that I was happy to look in the mirror and be confident in my skin. But this new formula is starting to ruin all that and I find myself yet again watching my skin get worse. Please please please LRP, why are you ignoring all these reviews from past users of the original formula?

Not good

Not happy with this at all, after I put it on the cream starts to peel off and makes my face look like it's super dry. Sad because I spent so much money on it and now I can't use it.

Not a patch on old formula

This is thicker and doesn’t absorb as well as the old formula and I also agree that it causes breakouts. After using this product for years without an issue I am really disappointed that they have changed the formula. I won’t buy again I do hope you listen to all the reviews and change is back- if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

Moisturising but causes breakouts

I bought this to moisturize my skin while using tretinoin for a year and struggling with dryness. I'm sad about this product because it genuinely seems to moisturize my skin, its less dry and I have less fine lines however this broke me out quite badly and I had to stop using.

I must admit I have regretted buying this product. It does a fine job of moisturizing but it peels off all day, so it looks like you have extreme dry skin.

Causes acne breakouts

I’ve used Effaclar Mat every day for the last 5 years and used to use the old formula at night to combat feelings of tight or dried out skin. Effaclar H Iso-Biome has triggered horrible acne breakouts. It contains comodogenic ingredients and should not be sold to those with acne.

I have never written a review before but I am desperate… I am begging please bring back the old formula!! It was the thing that healed my skin after a terrible bout of acne and drying treatments. It gave me the best skin of my life and recommended this cream to everyone. Since the formula changed, my skin has gradually become worse than ever before… the new formula doesn’t moisturise as much and I have awful breakouts. I have tried so many other creams and nothing works for me the way the old formula did. I hope someone will take this feedback and return the old cream!

This used to really help my skin stay clear, but recently it’s started causing the breakouts and I’ve heard people say it’s because they’ve changed the formula so if this is so could you please go back to the old one?

Terrible new formula waste of money

I used the old formula for years, and it rebalanced what had been very sensitive yet acne prone skin. This new formula just sits on the skin and creates a sticky mess, which results in breakouts of course. It’s unfortunate because some of us depend on this brand for medical reasons and not only cosmetic reasons, so they should seriously reconsider tweaking formulas. I’ve switched to Eucerin instead. If you bring the old formula back, please let me know and I will gladly return.

Agree with the other reviews. I had been using the old formula since starting roaccutane in2021 my skin remained clear until you changed this and now I have spots again! PLEASE produce the old formula as an option for those of us who need it, this is not non comedogenic and no where near as moisturising and no good for my skin and clearly others are also in the same position

I have been effaclar H customer for years and I think the new formula is not as great as the old one. It flakes and doesnt moisturise as much as the previous one. Please can you clarify if there are plans to sell the old formula again?

I have been using the old formula for years and it really agreed with my oily, acne prone, post-acne medication skin! I used the new formula for a week and my skin flared up - burning, itching, red, inflamed. I now have to try find a different face care routine, which is proving difficult after having relied on the Effaclar H cleanser and moisturiser for so long! Please bring back the old formula, even if sold alongside this one, as I’ve seen so many bad reviews o the reformulated version.

I've been using Effaclar H for years, it used to be my Holly grail. But since the new formula I've been forcing myself to love it but I just can't. It flakes a lot on my skin and it makes it hard to apply make up. I feel that this one sits on my face rather than being absorbed. After all this time, I decided to move on to another moisturiser.

Irritating and stings

My dermatologist recommended this, so I bought it but it stings and is very unpleasant. I went back and told them and they no longer recommend it, The ingredients of changed. There is definitely fragrance in it and they could’ve been denatured alcohol as well. A waste of money.

I loved the old formula but am not a fan of the new one unfortunately! It is not as creamy or as moisturising and the smell is very chemical-y. Skin feels quite dry - perhaps my skin isn’t oily enough to need the new formula. Maybe will try another one of the range.

Love this cream

I really like use this cream as it is very moisturaising, lightweight, not sticky. Skin feels very comfortable with it. Very good for sensative skin, iussualy use it after effaclar acid serum, it is very goid combination. Really helped me to improve my skin

Wanted to like this product but am so disappointed

I bought this moisturiser today in hopes that it would help the dryness in my skin from the salicylic acid I've been using and I'm very disappointed. After cleansing and then applying the moisturiser, about 20-30 minutes later, all of it was pilling and coming off my skin. It's not the most affordable product so to spend my money on a product that just comes off the skin is so sad. I didn't rub my skin or apply anything else, I touched my face very gently and it had all pilled.

Stings

This was recommended to me by a dermatologist, for sensitive skin that can inflame easily. My skin barrier is more sensitive and I have too much oil. I put it on and it stung immediately, not ultra soothing as they claim. I don’t know why, I’m guessing the fragrance? we all know fragrance is one of the top allergies, why they have put it in I don’t know. Maybe it’s something else. Not comfortable on my skin at all.

Absolutely perfect! I have combination skin and this works so well for me. It gives me hydration but not too much that it leaves my skin oily or greasy. It is so soothing on my sensitivity.

I was using your old formula for around 6 years and it was amazing! The new formula is not good- it doesn’t sink into the skin, doesn’t feel moisturising and is breaking me out. The old one used to be a great base for makeup too and this one is not. I am now having to look else where for a new brand and product.

I started using this while taking Isotretinoin and it was my skin SAVIOUR! My face was completely settled for years and then the formula changed. The new version is completely different and now disagree's with my skin. I am really disappointed as I thought I'd finally found the holy grail of moisturisers, only for it to go and change.

Not the right product for me

I started using this about three weeks ago. I have sensitive skin and so I am careful when researching new products. I chose this for its anti-drying properties. I developed a skin rash around me neck but did not associate it with the cream. After many days, I gave in agreed with my husband I’d omit this from my regime. The rash started clearing up that day! I won’t be using this any more.

Has restored my skin in only a few days

I was using a salicylic acid cleanser from another brand which helped my acne to a degree however it made my skin more inflamed, peeling around my mouth, red, and horrible. My neck was also irritated. My usual moisturiser of 6 years' company had also changed their formula and my face was a wreck and burning. I use la roche posay BB cream with SPF and I love it so decided to try more of the range.Even though I would prefer this had no fragrance, it has worked wonders on my skin in a few days. I went through tube after tube of the old moisturiser when it was recommended it to me and loved it. The new formula doesn't sink in the same way at all, it just sits on my skin and then balls up when I try to put makeup on top. Such a pity - am going to have to find something new.

I have loved effaclair H since I was first recommended it, and have been using it for over 10 years. I recently stocked back up with 3 tubes as I usually do when I'm running out. At first I thought maybe I ordered the wrong product and it had a fragrance to it and I noticed it wasn't moisturising my skin like before. I checked my order and saw a review mentioning the same as me, a new but worse formula. Please bring back the original. It's far better. I'm so disappointed as always felt paying more for this cream was so worth it. Now I'm stuck with 3 tubes of moisturiser that isn't a patch on the old version. Sad sad sad :(

As you can see in my photo I have tried both the older and new formula. While the old was not bad it was not god sent at least not for me and was not enough for me to not have to use storied type creams to control my severely flaking, oily skin. The new formulation along with face wash has allowed me to completly stop using prescribed creams on my face! This lotion along with the face wash has almost transformed my problem area, T-zone into a something manageable that I do not think I have had in really long time. It is really helping me recover my skin barrier. please do not stop making this!. It feels so good to know that those little plugs on my nose were becoming oxidized and brown and had to be picked out because something was not right with my skin barrier. It is the best feeling in world to be able to wash face, put lotion on and not have to worry about crap sticking out of your pores. This is really changing my skin and I love it. I will say I also use benzoyl peroxide which I had never dared to use on my T-zone and I am sure that is helping as well but I am only able to do that because the face wash is gentle enough and the cream is hydrating enough. All I know is that I get a full day of less oily skin. Please do not stop making this and bring this to the USA if possible. I have to buy expensive from over seas :(..hope there is someone out there listening.

However, the new iso-biome formula is not as good and pills underneath my SPF cream! So disappointed! I’m going to have to find another moisturiser now :( Please bring back the old formula!

Have I found a holy grail?

I never knew the old formula, and I bought this product two weeks ago for the first time. I am 37, I have a sensitive oily blemish-prone skin, dehydrated by many anti-acne products (retinols and acids). For many years, everyone told me that my skin barrier is broken and I need a good moisturizer. I tried many, but always had bad reactions, and only three things were able to calm my skin, more or less: aloe gel, snail mucin (pure) and a very expensive barrier repair cream from Dermalogica. And then, just by chance, I bought this one. At first, I was impressed how this cream was able to reduce dehydration-related redness. Then, I was impressed by how make-up products looked on top of it. But then, there was a revelation: I ate some chocolate - and my skin didn't break out! That's utterly fantastic! So, I don't know about the difference between the old formula and the new formula, but at the moment it works for me brilliantly, and I am now a devoted fan. Thank you for this product

New & unimproved.From holy grail to my daily fail!

I have been using effaclar H moisturiser for several years and recommended it to family and friends. In combination with LRP cleanser, it completely changed my skin from dry, irritated, acne break outs to clear, glowing, healthy and moisturised. However, the formula changed a few months ago and after application it now feels like a film sitting on my face. The moisturiser pills, I’m experiencing a lot of break outs, and my skin is visibly dry. Very upset that the formula has been changed and I am now on the search for a new moisturiser as I won’t be buying the new and unimproved effaclar H again.

I have been using this product for years and absolutely loved it. The new formula however is really awful, and nothing like the original. Please consider reverting to the original formula, many of my friends and i people loved and relied on it as our daily moisturiser.

The worst

It breaks my skin out, the old formula was so much better. Ever since they changed it I haven’t found a new product that can replace it. I have tried everything and nothing works at all, I went through a lot of treatment just for you guys to change the formula. My skin won’t heal back again.

Great Moisturiser!

I use this morning and night along with the Effaclar face wash and it's made a noticeable difference to my skin. A little goes a long way but one bottle doesn't last long, I always buy 2 at a time!

It burns!!!

I bought this product yesterday and used it last night and this morning as directed. It doesn’t feel like a cream or soothing like the tube states. The texture is more like sticky hand soap. Last night my face started to feel like I’d been out in the sun and might have gotten some sunburn. This morning my face instantly became red and sore after applying. I washed it off and it kind of foamed up like a face wash. My skin is still burning and red. Definitely not using again. Not sure I even want to go outside with a bright red face :(

This feels nice and luxurious, although it sinks into my dry patches quickly so I have to reapply and/or use a different product. Luckily it seems to help overall dryness over time.

New favourite moisturiser

Excellent for dry skin

I love this product so much. I’m excessively peeling due to acne and it has helped so much. I just wish it came in bigger pump bottles as one would only last me 2-3 weeks due to using it 2x a day.

Moisturised skin without greasy feeling!

A great staple moisturiser

Heal my face after retinol

I used the differin cream with retinol I have been prescribed for acne. My face felt so sensitive during and after the treatment. I use cleansing for Oily and Blemish-prone skin and this moisturiser. Works perfectly precisely what my skin needs now.

My new favourite moisturiser

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This cream has been excellent and has helped rescue my skin from the initial redness and flaking from using retinol. Retinol really helps my acne, I can’t live without it. But it does often give me flakiness which looks awful with make up. This cream has helped protect against that especially when I ‘sandwich’ the retinol with this ie. Cream, retinol, cream. It’s non greasy and I use morning and evening. I will definitely buy it in the future.

Not good for me

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This moisturiser is very light and maybe ideal for the summer. My skin type is a combination and I felt this cream wasn’t enough to moisture my skin. I will keep on using my usual moisturiser hyalu that suits me much better

Dream team combination

Blends into my darker complexion

Best moisturiser for dry skin

Good for older spot prone skin too

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A lovely soothing cream that has helped to rehydrate my aging skin that is prone to spots. I really liked the consistency of the product and the fact that it was absorbed easily into my skin without leaving that ‘tacky’ feeling. Could apply make up straight after and no piling occurred. Feels nice & gentle

Again the snell is a little overpowering, I cant stress again how skincare does not need to smell of anything.

Light weight and very effective

A simple moisturiser that does what it says on the tin

Brillant moisturising for troubled patches on face

Game changer for damaged skin while using skin treatment products

A new favourite moisturiser

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been experiencing some painful, but small blemishes and dry areas of skin recently, due to poor health. This left parts of my complexion feeling irritated and sore. I was a little hesitant about trying this moisturiser at first, as it is a little thicker and more emollient than the other effeclar moisturiser. I was concerned it could occlude my skin, causing more white heads. I needn't have worried. This has been a game changer. It spreads well, absorbs easily, and left my skin feeling soothed and hydrated. In combination with the effaclar cream cleanser, i noticed a vast reduction in breakout within a week. Lightweight moisturiser

I really liked how lightweight this was on my skin. So little is needed and it goes on well. Quick to soak in and then feels so nice. Effective moisturiser cream

Both the constant exposure to the sunlight and sea can cause dryness and irritation to my skin, which happened this time as well. Excellent moisturiser for Combination skin.

It is cooling and nourishing and had definitely helped my skin tone and reduced the redness and evened out skin tone. I suffer from rosacea and am allergic to the sun - so I wear factor 50 on my face. But after a hot day I have found this moisturiser really cools and nourishes the skin without making it greasy.

Great for combination skin

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My skin is sensitive and oily but I also have dry patches. This product is perfect for my skin so that I do not have to use various products. The texture is light yet rich and very moisturising and improved my dry patches without making the rest of my skin extra oily.
