SA Smoothing Cleanser

Really does cleanse and smooth your skin

Soothing Cleanser

Did nothing for me

I have rough bumpy skin and was so excited to use this but it literally did nothing for me. I still broke out weekly as usual, and at some point struggled with whiteheads all over my face. Breakouts aside, it did not even improve the texture of my skin in any way.

burnt my skin!

usually use the cetaphil gentle cream cleanser but ran oht so bought this quickly to replace. i left it on my skin for less than two minutes & it has burnt all around my mouth. my face is incredibly tingly. have had to avoid retinol tonight. not a gentle product at all!!

KP solution

Have suffered from KP without any solution for years, mosturisers did nothing and exfoliating only made it worse. I used Cerave's smoothing cleanser and noticed less bumps after the first use. I am so much more confident about having my arms out!

My Experience with this cleanser

I used this on the small bumps on my forehead and because I was mainly getting pimples there and the first 2 weeks I used it I noticed I was getting more pimples and spots and was going to stop using it until I found out that I was actually ‘purging’ which meant my skin was adapting to the cleanser and renewing my skin cells and after the 2 weeks of using it the spots went away and actually improved my skin and made it smoother before I started using it. I also noticed I’m getting so much less pimples and the bumps are slowly going away, I recommend this product so much and I think the only reason this product has bad reviews is cause of people not searching up why they are breaking out since it’s from a good reason as it improves your skin after 10/10

Cere Ve you need to detoxify your cleansers

Bought this and started to use it until my naturopath went through the ingredient list with me. It contains Sodium Benzoate - a preservative best avoided, Phonoxyethenol another preservative best avoided. PEG-150 which the jury is out on. It would be good if Cere Ve could also work on replacing some of these things with 'cleaner' alternatives.

Great Chemist Buy For Bumpy Skin

My skin has had my GP stumped, we assumed it was allergies. It looks like small bumps all over my face, and after trying treatments for fungal acne and blocked pores, I decided to try this alongside the cream. I love it. In just a week, I could see my skin being brighter, and after a month the dreaded bumps went away. Note, that it is a little stripping, so if you have dry skin. Don't use it. I only use it at night, and use it on my dace and my arms where I also have bumps. It's basically a light exfoliating cleanser, so use it like that, not like a day and night face wash!

My go to face wash

Well, it's been 2 years and this face wash hasn't failed me!. My skin is completely clear, free from dull and dry skin! My bumps has all cleared, it's brighten my complexion, and my skin feels plumped and smooth. I use this face wash along with cerave SA smoothing cream. I can't live without it. I have tried many other skin care brands but this one worked well for me. My skin used to look so dull honestly and before my period I always used to break out on my face but cerave SA face wash was and SA cream has stopped all that. You have to be consistent with it to see results.

The Smoothing Cream is perfect, but I find the cleanser is far too watery so I had to take some points off. I would prefer if it was the consistency as the Foaming Cleanser

Overhyped: Terrible for Sensitive Acne Prone Skin!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had seen this cleanser raved about everywhere! From proclaimed skin care influencers, right to trusted dermatologists. It was a product that was hyped, and prescribed as the holy grail to a dry, sensitive and acne prone skin type. This definitely intrigued me because that was my skin type, and it was always my pain point for maintaining my skin. I bought this initially when I came to London, thinking it would help me as my holy grail cleanser to defend my skin against both the weather and hard water that comes with the UK. Oh goodness was I wrong. As anyone with adult acne or sensitive skin knows, we only change one thing in our skin routine at a time. It's a sure fire was of finding a culprit to a problem, bad product or purging in some cases. I always used this method to help to monitor a product in case of flare ups. When I started using this cleanser, I had some initial breakouts. I initially attributed this to purging and rebalancing of my skin barrier given this product had ceramides in it. So I continued to give it a go and ride out the wave, just like I once did with retinol. I continued to use this cleanser over the next few days. As I continued use, by each day that passed, I found more, and more breakouts appear! They appeared in a cystic pattern (closed and painful bumps) all over my cheeks, chin, around my mouth and on my forehead. I never got breakouts around my face like that before and it cropped up in hives. Initially, naive me, thought oh it must be the hard water I'm washing my face with. So I adapted, and for the next few days I continued to use the cleanser with distilled water. And it didn't get better! I started feeling really upset about my skin condition worsening as I not only got cystic acne flare ups all over my face, but I was left with hyperpigmentation! As I was becoming quite upset with my routine, I decided to change my skincare cycle with my retinols and azelaic acids. That made no difference. So I decided to skip this cleanser one evening and use my Paula's Choice cleanser instead (my tried and true). And you wouldn't guess it in your wildest dreams! My skin cleared up within days! Hard water, retinol, azelaic acid and all! I realised that this product was causing all the painful breakouts, bumps and cystic acne that were painful, red and angry. As someone who never writes reviews, but has a passion for skin care regarding adult acne, this is my first one and I have to say one thing. STAY AWAY FROM THIS. You will do yourself a massive favour. I can't stress it enough, if it is not broken, there is nothing to fix in your skincare routine. Even if you are bored or there is a new product out on the market. Save your money and your skin and don't pick this up!!!!

I bought the SA Smoothing Cleanser about 6 months ago, with the hopes it would help with the congestion in my pores on my nose and t-zone. For reference, I have dry-normal skin, non-sensitive, and not acne prone. Prior to using this cleanser, the only places I ever got breakouts were on my forehead and chin. After 6 months of using the cleanser every night, I now have constant breakouts and texture on my cheeks and jawline (see pictures). I’m not sure if this cleanser is entirely to blame, but it’s the only change I’ve made in my skincare routine for the last 6 months. If I could I’d give this product 2.5 stars, purely because I do think it’s helped to minimise the pores on my nose as I hoped it would. Another thing I will say is that despite being a Salicylic Acid cleanser, it didn’t feel overly drying or stripping, which was great. Other than that, I’m pretty disappointed with the results.

I purchased this to aid in the reduction of blackheads. I have extremely sensitive skin but was pleasantly surprised that it didn't irritate me. I have been using the product since September 23rd but have yet to see any improvement in my skin which is a shame because I like a lot about this cleanser including that it has no fragrance. The only downside is the lack of any difference I see in my skin tecture.

Fantastic product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was battling the most horrific hormonal acne and I can confidently say that this SA cleanser has single handed saved my skin! I am a self confessed skin care junkie (with sensitive combo skin) but during lockdown, I’m not sure if it was a combination of stress and mask wearing but I was breaking out everyday on my jawline and cheeks. It was really getting me down. But within 2 weeks of AM and PM use (I also do a double cleanse with oil based cleanser first in the PM) I haven’t had any new spots. What I did have has died down. My cheeks are smooth so my highlighter sits nicer. For such a cheap product it is amazing on price point. The pump is easy to use. Sometimes I add a scrub to the cleanser for extra exfoliation. One word of advice though, it didn’t like my niacinamide-based moisturiser afterwards, it burned a bit so once I figured that out it was a dream to use. Make sure you moisturise well afterwards (I use a multi weight hyaluronic acid serum from Revolution). So if you’re battling breakouts, bumpy skin don’t hesitate and just buy it! You won’t regret it!!

I have only been using this cleanser along with the smoothing cream for a few days and I’m amazed. My skin is visibly clearer, has reduced blemishes and redness and looks a lot healthier overall. I can’t wait to see results after a few weeks!

Great product, awful pump

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The wash itself is great but as with other reviews, a brown liquid forms in the pump. Despite the response to a similar complaint, in my bottle I noticed it as it was actually running down the inside of the bottle to the product and then mixed with it. This probably has a lot of bacteria built up in it and is therefore posing a risk to customers using it. I'd love to buy it again if this is fixed.

Quite a nice cleanser

This ruined my skin

Generally I have acne prone skin. During this whole pandemic my skin healed dramatically. My skin was feeling plump and healthy. A skincare specialist on Tiktok mentioned this product and it blew up. So I decided to try it. This cleanser in particular was targeted for people with acne prone skin who also have dry skin which I thought was perfect. But it broke me out sooooo much. Initially I thought my skin was just purging but the more i used it my skin was dry and I got loads of breakouts. Never again

MY FAVE CLEANSER

Been using this product religiously for over nearly a year. The time I ran out for a few weeks and stopped using it I started to get more acne again. Reusing again now and it’s still as good as ever. Leaves me with a lovely clean feeling that isn’t tight and uncomfortable like many cleansers I’ve tried before. I get bad hormonal acne On my chin and jaw and flaky dry skin around my cheeks And nose. This helps with both and I am a big fan. So affordable too! My staple cleanser!

I got this cleaner to try tackle the texture on my forehead and let me tell you, it is the best skincare product I’ve ever tried! Within just over a week, my skin was so smooth and glowy! Also , after 6 months of using this cleaner, I can confidently say that my skin has honestly never been clearer. My face is completely smooth and I very rarely get spots anymore (except the odd 1 or 2 that are caused by that time of the month). I would recommend this product 100% !

Great budget option

I have used this product for around 6 weeks now, it has made a huge difference to my face. The salicylic acid gently dissolved all dead skin giving a brightening effect whilst the hyaluronic acid kept it hydrated. Will definitely continue to udmse this cleanser each night.

Cleared my skin in a matter of DAYS

Really stinging my face

So smoothing!

Absolutely amazed at the quality of this product. I’ve tried so many cleansers to find the perfect one and this is it. Not only is it cheap, it does exactly what it says. I applied this to damp skin as instructed, gently massaging into my face. It lathered up into a gentle foam, without affecting my sensitive skin. Once removed, my face was left super smooth and glowing! It not only looked clean but it felt clean. I’ve only had a sample size of this so far but I will be purchasing the full price as soon as I need to, it’s worth every penny!

Fantastic!

I recive a quite big sample of this product, i wanted to try as my skin is dry and sensitive and honestly it is very good cleanser, leaves my skin soft and moisturize, it's also very efficient so last for long! Definitely worth buying!!!

The best!!

I have tried a few different salicylic acid cleansers and they tend to dry out my skin. My skin is dry and sensitive and this in fact makes my skin hydrated. I would say cerave is the best drugstore brand for skincare.

Unexpectedly soothing and smoothing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] CeraVe is really popular in my country - that is Italy - and I was super excited to try it, especially now that I've been experienced a bad rush with pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. CeraVe SA Smoothing cleanser is a clear fluid with a low-foam level: it doensn't create too much foam so it doens't dries up my skin. I dislike its scent which is between neutral and synthetic, but I like the purified, clean and smooth sensation after washing my face. My face doens't show pimples but just some whieteheads on the jawline, CeraVe cleanser helped me considerably. My skin feel cleaner and not dry at all. My skin is less irritated, have less pimples and with cleaner pores.

Amazing results eradicating keratosis pilaris

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 13 year old daughter started using this once a week mixed in with the hydrating cleanser. She now uses it twice a week on its own and after 3 months her bumpy KP on both sides of her face has completely gone. Fantastic results and such an effective yet gentle cleanser when used carefully on teenage skin. I have sensitive, rosacea-prone skin and I use it twice a week too, on the other days I use the hydrating gel cleanser. PLEASE Cerave, my daughter would LOVE to be able to buy the SA body wash in the UK so she could get rid of the KP bumps all over her upper arms. Please bring it to the UK market!

Do not use

I did not like this product at all I started to use it and felt burning all over my face. It is supposed to be fine for sensitive skin. Yet alcohol is a top ingredient. Very very fissapointed

Amazing smoothing cream!

Easy to use & left me feeling clean but not tight

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A nice unscented gel texture foaming face wash. It did not sting or feel uncomfortable, even around my eyes and although it left my skin feeling clean, it did not make my face feel tight. My one quibble would be that I would like it to foam a little more, although adding extra foaming agents may be detrimental to the overall efficacy of the product.
